About Jacob Fox
Jacob is a tech and hardware writer with over four years of experience writing for some of the biggest PC gaming and technology websites such as PCGamer, PCGamesN, and now Pocket-lint. He's been building and upgrading PCs, playing competitive PC games, and tinkering with components for almost two decades. In fact, he became a techie long before he was old enough to understand the monetary value of all the hardware he was tampering with and inevitably breaking.
Outside of the wonderful world of tech, Jacob is a budding academic philosopher, holding a BA in International Relations and Philosophy and an M.Phil in Philosophy, who will hopefully sometime in 2024 also hold a PhD in philosophy (qualification pending his currently awaited viva exam). Outside of work, Jacob enjoys playing guitar, making music, gaming on PC, and most recently (and most inteptly) practising Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
What was your first phone?
The first phone I owned was a tiny silver thing with a screen little wider than an inch. I did own the classic Nokia 3310 at some point, and the Motorola Razr V3, too. I also remember owning the first ever (non-stylus) touchscreen phone, the LG Prada. Call me an early adopter.
When did your interested in technology begin?
About age 9, when I decided it would be a good idea to try and learn to code. (I failed. Google wasn't much of a thing back then.)
What tech products or categories are you most passionate about?
The guts of a desktop or laptop PC: graphics cards, motherboards, CPUs, and so on. I also like mechanical keyboards, headphones, gaming mice, and other PC peripherals.
